Tafsir
Verse range: 10:26
{For those who have done good is the best [reward]} The Husna (the best) is the best recompense.
{and more} That which exceeds the recompense, which is [God’s] grace (tafaddul). This is indicated by His saying: {And He will give them more from His bounty} (An-Nisa: 173).
The Mushabbiha (anthropomorphists) and the Mujbira (determinists) claimed that the "more" is looking at the Face of Allah Almighty. They cited a marfu' hadith: "When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, they will be called: 'O people of Paradise!' Then the veil will be lifted, and they will look at Him. By Allah, He has not given them anything more beloved to them than that."
{Neither will darkness cover their faces} Qatar (darkness) means dust mixed with blackness.
{nor humiliation} Nor any trace of disgrace or gloominess of mind. The meaning is that they will not be overcome by that which overcomes the people of the Fire, from which He saves them by His mercy. Do you not see His saying: {Darkness will cover them} (Abasa: 41) and {And humiliation will cover them} (Yunus: 27)?
{But those who have earned evil deeds—the recompense of an evil deed is its like, and humiliation will cover them. They will have no protector from Allah. It will be as if their faces are covered with pieces of the night, so dark. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.}
