Tafsir
Verse range: 10:36
{And most of them follow nothing but conjecture} regarding their decision about God, {except conjecture}, because it is a statement not based upon any proof they possess. {Indeed, conjecture} in the knowledge of God {does not avail against the truth}—which is certain knowledge—{at all}.
It is also said: Most of them follow nothing but conjecture in their claim that idols are gods and intercessors before God. The term "most of them" here refers to all of them.
{Indeed, God is Knowing} of what they do; this is a threat regarding their following of conjecture and their blind imitation of their forefathers. It is also recited as tafʿalūn (you all do) with the tāʾ prefix.
{And it was not [possible] for this Qur’an to be produced by other than God, but [it is] a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of the [former] Scripture, about which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds. Or do they say, "He invented it"? Say, "Then bring forth a surah like it and call upon whomever you can besides God, if you should be truthful." Rather, they have denied that which they encompass not in knowledge, and whose interpretation has not yet come to them. Thus did those before them deny. Then observe how was the end of the wrongdoers. And of them are those who believe in it, and of them are those who do not believe in it. And your Lord is most knowing of the corrupters.}
