Open in Qurani

{And for every nation is a messenger} Sent to them to alert them to the Oneness of God (Tawhid) and to call them to the religion of truth.

{So when their messenger comes} To them with clear proofs, and they deny him and do not follow him:

{It is judged between them} Meaning, between the prophet and those who denied him:

{With justice} With equity. He saves the messenger and punishes the deniers, as in His saying: {And never would We punish until We sent a messenger} (Al-Isra: 15).

Alternatively: For every nation on the Day of Resurrection, there is a messenger to whom they are attributed and called. When their messenger comes to the gathering place to testify against them regarding their disbelief or faith, as in His saying: {And the prophets and the witnesses will be brought, and it will be judged between them in truth} (Az-Zumar: 69).

{And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" Say, "I possess not for myself any harm or benefit, except what Allah should will. For every nation is a term. When their term comes, then they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]."}
