Surah Yunus: (5) "It is He who made..."
"The ya in ḍiyāʾ (light/radiance) is a transformation of a wāw from ḍawʾ, due to the kasra preceding it."
"It is recited as ḍiʾāʾ: with two hamzas separated by an alif, based on metathesis (inversion), by placing the lām before the ʿayn, just as it is said of ʿāq (disobedient): ʿaqā."
"The ḍiyāʾ (radiance) is stronger than the nūr (light)."
"{And determined its phases}: He determined the moon. The meaning is: He determined its course in phases, or He determined it as having phases, similar to His saying: 'And the moon, We have determined for it phases' (Yā-Sīn: 39)."
"{And the reckoning}: And the reckoning of time, such as months, days, and nights."
"{That}: This is a reference to what has been mentioned. That is, He did not create it except in accordance with the Truth, which is the profound wisdom; He did not create it in vain."
"It is recited as yufaṣṣilu (He details): with a yāʾ."
(6) "Indeed, in the alternation of the night and the day and [in] what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are signs for a people who fear [Allah]."
