Tafsir of Yunus 10:89

"He said: 'Your prayer has been answered...'"

• "Your prayer" (da‘watukuma): It is recited in the dual form. It is said that Moses was supplicating while Aaron was saying "Amen." It is also possible that both were supplicating. The meaning is: Your supplication is answered, and what you have requested will come to pass, but at its appointed time.
• "So remain on the right path" (fastaqīmā): Remain steadfast in what you are doing regarding the call and in increasing the weight of your argument. Noah (peace be upon him) remained among his people for a thousand years less fifty, so do not be hasty. Ibn Jurayj said: Moses remained for forty years after this supplication.
• "And do not follow the path of those who do not know": Do not follow the way of those who are ignorant of God’s custom in linking matters to their proper interests. Do not be hasty, for haste is not in the interest of the matter. This is similar to what He said to Noah (peace be upon him): "I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant" (Hud: 46).
• Recitation note: It is also recited as wa-lā tattabi‘ān with a light nūn (nūn khafīfah), which is kasra-voweled due to the meeting of two quiescent letters, resembling the dual nūn, and with the tā’ lightened from taba‘a.

"And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, 'I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims.'"
