Verse range: 12:63
{فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا إِلَىٰ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ}
{مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ}: They mean the statement of Yusuf: "If you do not bring him to me, there shall be no measure for you with me." For when they were warned of the withholding of the measure, it was as if the measure had already been withheld.
{فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ}
{نَكْتَلْ}: We will remove the obstacle to the measure, and we will measure the food we need.
It is also recited as {يَكْتَلْ} (in the third person), meaning: "Let our brother measure," so that his measuring may be added to our measuring, or that he may be the cause for the measuring, for the withholding of it is due to him.
{قَالَ هَلْ آمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَا أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ فَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ}
