Verse range: 13:32
"And messengers have already been mocked..."
Al-Imlāʾ (Respite): It means granting a delay, and leaving [someone] for a period of time in ease and security, like an animal that is given free rein in a pasture. This is a threat to them, and a response to their demand for signs from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as a form of mockery, as well as a consolation for him.
"Is He then who is a maintainer of every soul, [knowing] what it has earned? And they have attributed partners to Allah. Say, 'Name them. Or do you inform Him of that which He knows not upon the earth, or is it [merely] an outward statement?' Rather, their plotting has been made attractive to those who disbelieve, and they have been averted from the way. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is for him no guide."
"For them is a punishment in the worldly life, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe. And they have not from Allah any protector."
