Tafsir
Verse range: 15:23-25
{And We are the Inheritors} Meaning: We are the ones who remain after the destruction of all creation. The one who remains is called an "inheritor" (wārith) as a metaphor derived from the heir of a deceased person, because He remains after their annihilation. From this is the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his supplication: "Make him the inheritor among us."
{And We have already known} Those who came forward in birth and death, and those who came later, among the first and the last. Or, those who have emerged from the loins of men and those who have not yet emerged. Or, those who preceded in Islam and raced toward obedience, and those who lagged behind. It is also said: those who move to the front rows of the congregation and those who stay behind.
It is narrated that there was a beautiful woman who used to pray behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Some of the men would move to the front rows so as not to look at her, and some would stay in the back to see her, so this verse was revealed.
{He will gather them} Meaning: He alone is capable of gathering them, and He is the Knower of their count, despite their excessive numbers and the vast distance between their ranks.
{Indeed, He is Wise, Knowing} Possessing overwhelming wisdom and vast knowledge. He does everything He does according to the requirements of wisdom and correctness, and He has encompassed all things with His knowledge.
{And We have certainly created man out of clay from an altered black mud. And the jinn We created before from the fire of the scorching wind.}
