Tafsir of Al-Hijr 15:86

{Indeed, your Lord is the Creator} He who created you and created them.

{And He is the All-Knowing} Of your state and their state; nothing that transpires between you is hidden from Him, and He will judge between you.

Alternatively: Indeed, your Lord is He who created you and knew what is most beneficial for you. He knew that pardoning today is more beneficial, until the time comes when the sword is more beneficial.

In the codices of Ubayy and Uthman, it is written: "Indeed, your Lord is the Creator" (al-Khāliq).

Al-Khallāq (the Creator) is used for the many, not the few, just as you would say: "He cut the garments" (qaṭaʿa al-thiyāb) versus "He cut the garment" (qaṭaʿa al-thawb).
