Verse range: 16:119
{بجهالة} (in ignorance): This is in the position of a ḥāl (circumstantial qualifier). It means: they committed evil while ignorant, not knowing God or His punishment, or failing to contemplate the consequences due to their desires overcoming them.
{من بعدها} (thereafter): After the repentance.
{إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَانِتًا لِلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ * شَاكِرًا لِأَنْعُمِهِ اجْتَبَاهُ وَهَدَاهُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ * وَآتَيْنَاهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَإِنَّهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ}
(Indeed, Abraham was a nation, devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allah. [He was] grateful for His favors. He chose him and guided him to a straight path. And We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.)
