And We have certainly diversified [the contents] in this Qur'an that mankind may be reminded, but it does not increase the disbelievers except in aversion.

Verse range: 17:41
{And We have certainly diversified [the message] in this Qur’an}
It is possible that by "this Qur’an," He intends the refutation of their attributing daughters to Allah, because it is something He has diversified and repeated. The meaning is: "We have diversified the discourse regarding this meaning." Or, it means: "We have placed the diversification within it and made it a place for repetition."
It is also possible that by "this Qur’an," he refers to the Revelation, intending: "We have diversified it [this meaning] in various places of the Revelation," omitting the pronoun because it is understood.
It is recited as ṣarrafnā (with a light rā). Likewise, {li-yadhdhakkarū} (that they may take heed) is recited both with a shaddah (emphatic) and without. That is: We have repeated it so that they may be admonished, take heed, and find certainty in the arguments brought against them.
{But it increases them not except in aversion}
Aversion from the Truth and a lack of certainty in it.
Sufyan used to say when he recited this: "It has increased me in humility toward You, just as it has increased Your enemies in aversion."
{Say, "If there had been with Him [other] gods, as they say, then they would have sought a way to the Possessor of the Throne."}
{Exalted is He and high above what they say, [by] great sublimity.}
