Al-Kahf: 76

{ بعدها } After this instance or request.

{ فلا تصاحبني } Do not draw near to me; and if I request your company, do not agree to it.

  • It is also recited: (فلا تصحبني), meaning: do not be my companion.
  • It is also recited: (فلا تصحبني), meaning: do not accompany me, and do not make me your companion.

{ قد بلغت من لدني عذرا } You have reached an excuse from me (i.e., you have been given a valid reason).

  • It is also recited: (لدني) with a light nun.
  • And (لدني) with a quiescent dal and a kasra on the nun, similar to how they say ‘aḍd for ‘aḍud.

From the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): "May Allah have mercy on my brother Musa; he was shy, so he said that."

And he said: "May the mercy of Allah be upon us and upon my brother Musa; had he remained with his companion, he would have seen the most wondrous of wonders."

{ فانطلقا حتى إذا أتيا أهل قرية استطعما أهلها فأبوا أن يضيفوهما فوجدا فيها جدارا يريد أن ينقض فأقامه قال لو شئت لاتخذت عليه أجرا }

"Then they both set out until, when they came to the people of a town, they asked its people for food, but they refused to host them. Then they found therein a wall that wanted to collapse, so he set it upright. He said, 'If you had wished, you could have taken a payment for it.'"
