Verse range: 18:98
{ قَالَ هَٰذَا رَحْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّي }
{ هَٰذَا }: A reference to the barrier (al-sadd). This barrier is a blessing from Allah and a "mercy" (rahmah) upon His servants. Alternatively, it refers to the ability and empowerment granted to construct it.
{ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ رَبِّي }: Meaning, when the arrival of the Day of Resurrection draws near and is about to occur.
{ جَعَلَهُ دَكَّاءَ }: Meaning, crushed, spread out, and leveled with the earth. Everything that becomes flat after having been elevated is considered dakk. From this comes the expression "a adakk camel," meaning one with a flat hump. It is also recited as dakkaa’ (with a long vowel), meaning a level piece of land.
{ وَكَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّي حَقًّا }: This is the conclusion of the account of Dhu al-Qarnayn’s speech.
{ وَتَرَكْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَمُوجُ فِي بَعْضٍ وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَجَمَعْنَاهُمْ جَمْعًا }
