Surah Maryam 19:11
ﲰ ﲱ ﲲ ﲳ ﲴ ﲵ ﲶ ﲷ ﲸ ﲹ ﲺ
So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon.

Maryam: (11) "Then he came out to his people..."
"He signaled" (أوحى): According to Mujahid, it means he gestured. This is supported by the verse: "except by signaling" (إلا رمزا). According to Ibn Abbas, he wrote for them on the ground: "Glorify [Allah]" (سبحوا), meaning: pray. Alternatively, it may be taken according to its apparent meaning, with "that" (أن) serving as an explanatory particle.
