Surah Maryam 19:19



ﲃ ﲄ ﲅ ﲆ ﲇ ﲈ ﲉ ﲊ ﲋ

He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy."

Maryam: (19) He said, "I am only..."

"He said, 'I am only a messenger from the One you sought refuge in, [sent] to grant you...'" Meaning: I am a messenger from the One in whom you sought refuge, sent to be the cause for the granting of a boy by breathing into the garment.

In some codices, it reads: "I am only a messenger of your Lord, who has commanded me to grant you [a son]." Or, it is a narration of the words of Allah Almighty.

(20) She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me, and I have not been unchaste?"

(21) He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for the people and a mercy from Us.' And it is a matter already ordained."
