Tafsir of Maryam 19:35

"It is not for Allah to take a son..."

He (Allah) refuted the Christians and rebuked them by demonstrating the negation of a child from Him. It is something that is neither possible nor conceivable to the intellect, nor is it within the realm of possibility. It is impossible and irrational for His Essence to be like the essence of one from whom a child is born.

He then clarified the impossibility of this by stating that He who, when He wills anything from all categories of existence, brings it into being by saying "Be," is transcendent and far removed from the likeness of procreating animals.

The expression here is metaphorical (majāz). Its meaning is that His willing a thing is inevitably followed by its existence without delay. He likened this to the command of an obeyed authority when it reaches a compliant subordinate.

"And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
