Al-Baqarah: 116

"And they said, 'Allah has taken a son...'"

"And they said" It is also recited without the "wa" (and). It refers to those who said: "The Messiah is the son of Allah," "Uzair is the son of Allah," and "The angels are the daughters of Allah."

"Exalted is He" A declaration of His transcendence above that, and a distancing from it.

"Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth" He is their Creator and their Owner, and among them are the angels, Uzair, and the Messiah.

"All are devoutly obedient to Him" They are submissive; nothing among them can resist His creation, His decree, or His will. Whoever possesses this attribute cannot be of the same species [as Him], and it is the nature of a child to be of the same species as the parent.

"All" The tanwin (nunation) in "all" (kullun) is a substitute for the genitive construction (mudaf ilayh); meaning: "all of them."
