"He said: 'Descend, both of you, from it...'"

Since Adam and Eve (peace be upon them) are the origin of humanity and the two causes from whom they originated and branched out, they were treated as if they were the entirety of humanity in their own persons. Thus, they were addressed with the address of the collective, and it was said: "Then if there comes to you..." using the plural form.

A parallel to this is the attribution of an action to the cause, while in reality, it belongs to the effect.

"Guidance" means a Book and a Law (Shari'ah).

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas: God has guaranteed for whoever follows the Qur'an that they will not go astray in this world nor suffer in the Hereafter. He then recited His saying: "Whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor suffer."

The meaning is that suffering in the Hereafter is the punishment for one who went astray in this world from the path of religion. Therefore, whoever follows the Book of God, complies with His commands, and refrains from His prohibitions, shall be saved from misguidance and its punishment.

Taha: 124–126

"And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed [difficult] life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind. He will say, 'My Lord, why have You raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?' [Allah] will say, 'Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten.'"
