Taha: 127

{And thus do We recompense him who...}

When He threatened the one who turns away from His remembrance with two punishments—a miserable life in this world and being gathered blind in the Hereafter—He concluded the verses of warning by saying: {And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more lasting.}

It is as if He said: "The gathering in a state of blindness, which never ceases, is more severe than the constriction of a life that comes to an end."

Alternatively, He may have meant: "Our leaving him in blindness is more severe and more lasting than his leaving Our signs."

Taha: 128

{Has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them, among whose dwellings they walk? Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence.}
