Tafsir
Verse range: 20:132
{And enjoin prayer upon your family} Meaning: Devote yourself, along with your family, to the worship of Allah and to prayer. Seek help through it for your poverty. Do not concern yourself with the affairs of provision and livelihood, for your provision is guaranteed by Us. We are your Provider, and We do not ask you to provide for yourself or your family; therefore, free your mind for the affairs of the Hereafter.
In this same meaning is the common saying: "Whoever occupies himself with the work of Allah, Allah will occupy Himself with his work."
It is narrated from Urwah ibn al-Zubayr that whenever he saw the luxuries of the rulers, he would recite: {Do not extend your eyes [longingly]}, then he would call out: "Prayer, prayer, may Allah have mercy on you!"
It is narrated from Bakr ibn Abdullah al-Muzani that whenever his family faced poverty, he would say: "Rise and pray, for this is what Allah commanded His Messenger," then he would recite this verse.
{And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them clear evidence of what was in the former scriptures?}
