Ṭāhā: 55 **"From it We created you, and into it We shall return you, and from it We shall bring you forth another time."**

"From it We created you" He means by their creation from the earth the creation of their origin, who is Adam, peace be upon him. It is also said: An angel is sent to take soil from the place where [a person] will be buried, then he scatters it upon the drop of semen, so that he is created from both the soil and the semen together.

"And from it We shall bring you forth another time" He means by bringing them out of it that He will assemble their scattered parts that have mixed with the soil, restore them as they were alive, and bring them out to the place of gathering, as in: "The day they will emerge from the graves rapidly" (al-Maʿārij: 43).

God enumerated for them what is attached to the earth regarding their benefits:

  • He made it a bed and a resting place for them to move upon.
  • He leveled paths for them within it, so they may traverse them as they wish.
  • He caused to grow therein various kinds of plants, which are the sustenance for them and the fodder for their livestock.

It is their origin from which they branched out, and their mother from whom they were born. Furthermore, it is their shroud when they die. Hence, the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said: "Seek blessing from the earth, for it is kind to you."

Ṭāhā: 56 **"And We had shown him Our signs, all of them, but he denied and refused."**
