So the magicians fell down in prostration. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses."

"Then the sorcerers fell down in prostration..."
Glory be to God! How wondrous is their affair. They had cast their ropes and staffs for the sake of disbelief and denial, then, after but an hour, they cast their heads down in gratitude and prostration. How immense is the difference between the two "castings."
It is narrated that they did not raise their heads until they had seen Paradise and Hell, and witnessed the reward of their inhabitants.
From ‘Ikrimah: When they fell in prostration, God showed them, while in their prostration, the stations they would attain in Paradise.
"He [Pharaoh] said: 'You believed him before I gave you permission? Indeed, he is your leader who taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in punishment and more enduring.'"
