Ṭā Hā: (82) "And indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever..."

"Guidance" (al-ihtidāʾ): It is uprightness and steadfastness upon the aforementioned guidance, which is repentance, faith, and righteous action. Similar to this is His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, those who have said, 'Our Lord is Allah' and then remained on a right course" (Fuṣṣilat: 30).

The particle of delay (thumma) indicates a disparity between the two stations, just as it indicates a disparity between two times in the phrase: "Zayd came to me, then ʿAmr." I mean that the station of steadfastness upon goodness is distinct from the station of goodness itself, because it is higher and more excellent than it.

Ṭā Hā: (83-84) "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses? He said, 'They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased.'"
