Surah Al-Anbiya' 21:7
ﲌ ﲍ ﲎ ﲏ ﲐ ﲑ ﲒ ﲓ ﲔ ﲕ ﲖ ﲗ ﲘ ﲙ ﲚ
And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know.

"And We did not send before you..."
He commanded them to inquire of the People of the Reminder—who are the People of the Book—so that they might inform them that the messengers of Allah to whom revelation was sent were human beings, not angels as they had believed.
He referred them to those people specifically because they were in league with the polytheists in their hostility toward the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Allah the Exalted said: "And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse" (Al 'Imran: 186). Thus, they would not deny them regarding that in which they were supporting the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
"And We did not make them bodies that did not eat food, nor were they immortal."
