Tafsir
Verse range: 22:58
"And those who emigrated for the sake of Allah..."
Since He united them in emigration for the sake of Allah, He made them equal in the promise. He grants those among them who die the same as He grants those who are killed, out of His grace and benevolence.
"And indeed, Allah is Knowing" of the ranks of the workers and their levels of merit.
"Forbearing" regarding the shortcomings of those among them who fall short, through His grace and generosity.
It is narrated that groups of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace and be pleased with them) said: "O Prophet of Allah, we know what good Allah has given to those who were killed, and we are striving with you just as they strove. So what will we have if we die with you?" Consequently, Allah revealed these two verses.
"That [is so]. And whoever punishes with the equivalent of that with which he was harmed and then is tyrannized - Allah will surely aid him. Indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving."
