Al-Hajj: 65–66

{Whatever is on the earth} of beasts, made subservient for riding on land, and of ships sailing in the sea, and other things among all that is subjected [to you]. It is read: {and the ships} (wa-l-fulku) in the nominative case (rafʿ) as an initial subject (mubtadaʾ).

{That it should fall}—meaning, fearing that it should fall—{except} by His permission.

{He gave you life} after you were inanimate: dust, then a drop, then a clinging clot, then a lump of flesh.

{Indeed, he is ungrateful}—meaning, one who denies the various types of blessings He has bestowed upon him.

{For every nation We have appointed a rite, which they perform. So do not let them dispute with you over the matter, and invite to your Lord. Indeed, you are upon a straight guidance.}
