Tafsir
Verse range: 23:53
"But they divided their affair among themselves..."
It is read as zuburan (زُبُرًا), the plural of zabūr, meaning: different books. This means: they made their religion into [various] religions.
Zuburan (pieces) is a metaphor derived from zubur (ingots) of silver or iron. Zuburan is also read with a lightened bā’ (i.e., zubran), similar to rusul (plural of rasūl).
The meaning is: every faction among these differing groups, who have fragmented their religion, rejoices in its own falsehood, with a tranquil soul, believing that it is upon the truth.
"So leave them in their confusion until a time."
