{يؤتون ما ءاتوا} They give what they have been given. In the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and ‘A’ishah: **{يأتون ما أتوا}** (They perform what they have performed).

It is narrated that she said: "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, is he the one who commits adultery, steals, and drinks wine, yet fears Allah while doing so?' He replied: 'No, O daughter of the Truthful (al-Siddiq). Rather, he is the one who prays, fasts, and gives charity, yet fears Allah that it might not be accepted from him.'"

{يسارعون فى الخيرات} This admits two meanings: 1. They desire acts of obedience with the utmost intensity and hasten toward them. 2. They are hastened in the benefits and manifestations of honor in this world, as in the verses: *“So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter”* (Al ‘Imran: 148), and *“And We granted him Isaac and Jacob and placed in his descendants prophethood and scripture”* (Al-‘Ankabut: 27). Since these were hastened for them, they have "hastened" in attaining them. This interpretation is more consistent with the preceding verse, as it affirms for the believers what was denied to the disbelievers. It is also recited as: **{يُسرعون في الخيرات}**.

{لها سابقون} Meaning: They are the performers of precedence for its sake, or they precede the people for its sake, or they precede it—meaning they attain it before the Hereafter, as it was hastened for them in this world. It is also permissible for **{لها سابقون}** to be a predicate following a predicate. The meaning of **{وهم لها}** is like the saying: *You are for it, O Ahmad, among all mankind.*

{ولا نكلف نفسا إلا وسعها ولدينا كتاب ينطق بالحق وهم لا يظلمون * بل قلوبهم فى غمرة من هاذا ولهم أعمال من دون ذالك هم لها عاملون}
