- Zakkā: Read with tashdīd (emphasis). The pronoun refers to Allah Almighty.
[Exegesis]
Had it not been for Allah’s grace upon you through the purifying repentance, no one among you would have been cleansed until the end of time from the filth of the sin of the Slander (al-Ifk). However, Allah purifies those who repent by accepting their repentance when they make it sincere. He is {Hearing} of their speech, {Knowing} of their inner thoughts and their sincerity.
{And let not those of virtue among you and wealth swear not to give [aid] to their relatives and the needy and the emigrants for the cause of Allah, and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.}
