Al-Furqān: (24) The People of Paradise on that Day...

"The best abode" (mustaqarr): The place where they remain for the majority of their time, sitting together and conversing.

"And the best place for a midday rest" (maqīl): The place to which they retreat for relaxation with their spouses, enjoying their company and intimacy, just as the affluent in this world live according to that arrangement.

It is narrated that the reckoning will be completed by the middle of that day, so the people of Paradise will take their midday rest in Paradise, and the people of the Fire in the Fire.

The meaning of this is found in the words of the Almighty: "Indeed, the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation—they and their spouses—in shade, reclining on adorned couches" (Yā Sīn: 55-56). It has been said in the interpretation of "occupation" that it refers to the deflowering of virgins. There is no sleep in Paradise; rather, the place of their comfort and relaxation with the Hūr (houris) is called a "midday rest" (maqīl) by way of analogy.

"And the best in station" (aḥsan): A symbol of that for which their place of rest is adorned—from the beauty of faces and the elegance of forms, to other such refinements and decorations.

{ And [mention] the Day when the heaven breaks apart with [clouds of] white, and the angels are sent down in successive descent. }
