And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper.

Tafsir
Verse range: 25:31
Then He turned to him, consoling, comforting, and promising him victory over them, saying: {And thus...}
Just as every prophet before you was tested by the enmity of his people. {And sufficient is your Lord as a Guide} to the way of overcoming them and gaining victory over them, {and a Helper} for you against them.
{...and they have taken this Qur’an as mahjuran (abandoned/forsaken)}: They left it, turned away from it, and from believing in it.
Regarding the Prophet (ﷺ): "Whoever learns the Qur’an and teaches it, then hangs up a copy of the Mushaf without tending to it or looking into it, it will come on the Day of Resurrection clinging to him, saying: 'O Lord of the Worlds, this servant of Yours took me as mahjuran; judge between me and him.'"
It is also said: It is derived from hajara (to rave/talk nonsense), meaning they treated it as something in which one raves. The preposition is omitted, and this is interpreted in two ways:
It is also permissible for mahjur to be in the sense of hajr (the act of abandoning), like majlud (flogged) and ma’qul (bound). The meaning is: They took it as an abandonment.
{And an enemy}: It may be singular or plural, as in His saying: {For they are an enemy to me} (Ash-Shu’ara: 77).
It is also said: The meaning is: "And the Messenger will say on the Day of Resurrection..."
{And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur’an not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly. And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation. The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and furthest astray in way.}
