And those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind.
Tafsir
Verse range: 25:73
{They do not fall upon them}
This is not a negation of the "falling" (prostrating/prostrating oneself upon the verses). Rather, it is an affirmation of the falling, and a negation of deafness and blindness. It is like your saying: "Zayd does not meet me greeting me." This is a negation of the greeting, not of the meeting.
The meaning is: When they are reminded by them, they fall upon them (the verses) out of eagerness to listen to them, and they turn toward the one who reminds them of them. While they are falling upon them, they are hearing with attentive ears and seeing with observant eyes.
They are not like those who, when reminded by them, you see them falling upon them and turning toward the one who reminds them, displaying intense eagerness to listen, while they are like the deaf and the blind—neither comprehending them nor discerning what is within them, such as the hypocrites and their likes.
{And those who say: "Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and our offspring comfort for our eyes, and make us a leader for the righteous."}
