Tafsir of Ash-Shu`ara' 26:41

"And it was read: (naʿam) with a kasra, and they are two dialects."

Regarding the statement: {Is there a reward for us?} It functions as the jazāʾ (consequent) of a conditional sentence, as it implies one. Since the statement {And you will then be among those brought near} is conjoined to it and falls under the same ruling, the word idhan (then) remains in its proper place, as required by the response and the condition.

He [Pharaoh] promised them that, in addition to the reward for the sorcery by which they expected to defeat Moses, he would grant them proximity to him and high status.

{Moses said to them: "Cast what you are going to cast." So they cast their ropes and their staffs and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed we are the victors."}
