Tafsir
Verse range: 26:57
"So We expelled them from gardens..."
Mujahid said: He called them "treasures" because they did not spend from them in the obedience of Allah.
"And stations (maqam):" This means places; he intends: beautiful dwellings and splendid assembly halls.
Ad-Dahhak said: Pulpits.
It was said: Secrets in curtained chambers.
"Like that (kadhālika):" This admits three possibilities:
"So they pursued them (fa-atba‘ūhum):" They caught up with them. It is also recited as fa-ittaba‘ūhum (they followed them).
"At sunrise (mushriqīn):" Entering the time of sunrise, from the verb sharaqat ash-shamsu shurūqan (the sun rose).
"And when the two hosts saw each other, the companions of Moses said, 'Indeed, we are to be overtaken!' He said, 'No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.' Then We inspired to Moses, 'Strike with your staff the sea,' and it parted, and each portion was like a great mountain. And We advanced thereto the others. And We saved Moses and those with him, all together. Then We drowned the others. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful."
