Tafsir
Verse range: 26:61-64
{He will guide me} To the path of salvation from their overtaking and harming me. It is also recited: "When the two groups saw each other."
{Indeed, we are to be overtaken} With a shaddah on the dal and a kasrah on the ra (lummudrikun). It is derived from adraka (to overtake/reach), meaning to follow in succession until something is exhausted. From this is the Almighty’s saying: {Rather, their knowledge has been exhausted (iddaraka) regarding the Hereafter} (An-Naml: 66). Al-Hasan said: "They were ignorant of the knowledge of the Hereafter." In this sense is the verse from Al-Hamasa:
Shall I, after the sons of my mother who have passed away in succession, Hope for life, or be impatient at death?
The meaning is: "We are being overtaken in destruction at their hands, until not one of us remains."
{So it parted} A farq is a part that has been separated from a whole. It is also recited as kullu falaq, and the meaning is the same.
{Like a great mountain} The tawd is a massive mountain that rises high into the sky.
{And We advanced there} Where the sea parted.
{The others} The people of Pharaoh. Meaning: We brought them close to the Children of Israel; or, We brought them near to one another and gathered them so that none of them would escape; or, We drove them forward into the sea.
It is also recited as wa-azlaqna (with a qaf), meaning: We caused their feet to slip. The meaning is: We destroyed their power, as in the verse:
You two reached 'Abs while its throne had collapsed, And Dhubyan, when the sandal slipped from their feet.
It is possible that God made their path in the sea different from the dry path He made for the Children of Israel, causing them to slip within it.
