And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."

"And insert your hand into..."

{And nine signs} is a new sentence (inceptual). The prepositional phrase within it relates to an omitted verb. The meaning is: "Go with nine signs {to Pharaoh}."

An example of this usage is the verse: I called to the food, and a group among them said: "We envy mankind the food."

It is also permissible that the meaning is: "Cast your staff, and insert your hand, [as part of] nine signs," meaning: among the total of nine signs and their count.

One might ask: "The signs were actually eleven: two of them being the hand and the staff, and the nine being the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, the blotting out [of wealth], the drought in their wilderness, and the deficiency in their crops."

{But when Our signs came to them, visible, they said, "This is manifest magic."}
