An-Naml: 73

"And indeed, your Lord is full of..."

The Favour (al-faḍl) and the Excellence (al-fāḍilah): This refers to bestowing grace (al-ifḍāl). One says, "So-and-so has fawāḍil (bounties) and fuḍūl (surplus of goodness) among his people."

Its meaning: That He is favoring them by delaying their punishment and not hastening it upon them. Yet, most of them do not recognize the right of this blessing, nor do they show gratitude for it. Instead, in their ignorance, they hasten the occurrence of the punishment—and they are the Quraysh.

"And indeed, your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare."
