Verse range: 28:46
{ إذ نادينا } It means the calling of Moses, peace be upon him, on the night of the private discourse (munajat) and speaking to him.
{ ولكن } But We taught you as a { mercy }. It is also recited as rahmatun (in the nominative case), meaning: it is a mercy.
{ ما أتاهم } There did not come to them any warner during the interval (fatrah) between you and Jesus, which is five hundred and fifty years. Similar to this is His saying: {That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned} (Ya-Sin: 6).
{ And if it were not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands have put forth, and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send a messenger to us so that we could follow Your verses and be among the believers?" }
