Al-Ankabut: 69

"And those who strive for Us..."

He used the term "striving" (mujahada) absolutely, without restricting it to a specific object. This is to encompass everything that must be striven against: the soul that commands evil (al-nafs al-ammara bi-l-su'), the Devil, and the enemies of the religion.

"For Us" Meaning: for Our sake and for Our cause, provided it is purely for Our countenance.

"We will surely guide them to Our ways" Meaning: We will surely increase their guidance toward the paths of goodness and grant them success (tawfiq), just as He, the Exalted, says: "And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance" (Muhammad: 17).

  • Abu Sulayman al-Darani said: "Those who strive in what they know, We will guide them to what they do not know."
  • Another said: "Whoever acts upon what he knows is granted success in what he does not know."
  • It is also said: "The ignorance we perceive regarding what we do not know is only due to our shortcomings in what we already know."

"And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good" Meaning: He is their Supporter and Helper.

From the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): "Whoever recites Surah al-Ankabut shall have a reward of ten good deeds for every believer and hypocrite."
