Al-Imran: 186
"You shall surely be tested in your wealth..."
- The trial in the self: Consists of killing, captivity, wounds, and the various types of fears and calamities that befall it.
- The trial in wealth: Consists of spending in the way of goodness and the afflictions that may occur to it.
- What they hear from the People of the Book: Slanders against the true religion, the obstruction of those who desire faith, and the declaring of those who have believed to be in error.
- The actions of Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf: His lampooning of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), his incitement of the polytheists, and the actions of Finhas and the tribes of Qurayza and Nadir.
"For if you are patient and fear Allah..."
"...that is of the matters of determination."
- "Of the matters of determination": Meaning, from the matters that one must be determined about, or from that which Allah has determined to be. It means that this is His decree—from the determinations of Allah—that you must be patient and fear Him.
