Tafsir
Verse range: 3:5
"Indeed, nothing is hidden from Him on earth or in heaven."
Nothing in the world is hidden from Him; He expressed this by mentioning the heaven and the earth. He is fully aware of the disbelief of the disbeliever and the faith of the believer, and He will recompense them for it.
"He it is who shapes you in the wombs as He wills."
He shapes you into various and differing forms. Tawus recited it as tusawwirukum (He shapes you for Himself), meaning: He shapes you for His own sake and for your worship of Him. This is like saying, "I have established wealth" (athaltu malan) when you make it a foundation (athlah), or "I have acquired it" (ta'athaltuhu) when you establish it for yourself.
Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: This is an argument against those who claimed that Jesus was a lord. It is as if he is pointing out that because he was shaped in the womb, he was a servant like any other, and that which is hidden from him is not hidden from Allah.
"There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
"He it is who has sent down to you the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific."
"As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]."
"And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah. But those firm in knowledge say, 'We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord.' And no one will be reminded except those of understanding."
