Tafsir of Ar-Rum 30:12

"And the Day the Hour is established..."

"Iblās" (despair): It means to remain miserable, motionless, and bewildered. It is said: "I debated him and he ablasa (became silent/despaired)," meaning he could not respond and despaired of presenting an argument. From this comes the term al-nāqah al-mublās (the silent she-camel): the one that does not bray. It is also recited as yablasu (with a fatḥah on the lām), derived from ablasahu, meaning "he silenced him."

"From among their partners": From among those whom they worshipped besides Allah.

"And they will be disbelievers in their partners": Meaning they will deny their divinity and reject it. Or, it means they were disbelievers in the world because of them.

Orthography: The word shufaʿāʾ (intercessors) in "And they will be disbelievers in their partners" is written in the Muṣḥaf with a wāw before the alif, just as ʿulamāʾ (scholars) is written in "the scholars of the Children of Israel" (Ash-Shuʿarāʾ: 197). Likewise, as-suʾā (the evil) is written with an alif before the yāʾ, to affirm the hamzah in the form of the letter corresponding to its vowel.

"And the Day the Hour is established, that Day they will be separated. As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, they will be in a garden, made happy. But as for those who disbelieved and denied Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter, those will be brought into the punishment."
