Surah Ar-Rum 30:42
ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ ﱅ ﱆ ﱇ ﱈ ﱉ ﱊ ﱋ ﱌ ﱍ ﱎ ﱏ
Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of those before. Most of them were associators [of others with Allah].

"Say, 'Travel through the land...'"
Then, He emphasized that disobedience is the cause of God’s wrath and His retribution, by commanding them to travel through the earth and observe how God destroyed the nations and made them taste the evil consequences of their sins.
By His saying, "Most of them were polytheists," He indicated that polytheism alone was not the sole cause of their destruction, and that sins lesser than it are also a cause for such [divine retribution].
"So set your face toward the upright religion before a Day comes from God which cannot be repelled. On that Day, they will be divided."
