ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
ﱳ ﱴ ﱵ ﱶ ﱷ ﱸ ﱹ ﱺ ﱻ ﱼ ﱽ ﱾ ﱿ ﲀ ﲁ ﲂ ﲃ ﲄ
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
Tafsir
Verse range: 32:15
{إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهَا} Meaning: When they are admonished by them, {خَرُّوا سُجَّدًا} (they fall down in prostration) out of humility before Allah and reverence, and in gratitude for the Islam with which He has provided them.
{وَسَبَّحُوا بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ} They declare Allah free from any attribution of ugliness to Him, and they praise Him while being grateful.
{وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ} Unlike those who persist in arrogance as if they had not heard them. Similar to this is the Almighty’s saying: "Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it—when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration, and they say, 'Exalted is our Lord'" (Al-Isra: 107).
{تَتَجَافَىٰ} Meaning: They rise and move away {عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ} (from the beds) and places of sleep, calling upon their Lord and worshipping Him due to their fear of His wrath and their hope for His mercy. They are the Mutahajjidun (those who perform the night prayer).
{مَّا أُخْفِيَ لَهُم} Read as passive (ukhfiya). If read as active (akhfa), the subject is Allah, the Exalted. Ma akhfa lahum, wa ma nukhfi lahum, and wa ma akhfaytu lahum—all three are in the first person, referring to Allah. Ma can mean "that which" or "what."
There is a reading: min qurrati a'yun (singular) and qurratin a'yun (plural).
The meaning: No soul—not a single one of them, neither a close angel nor a sent prophet—knows what great type of reward Allah has stored for them and hidden from all His creation. None knows it but Him, which will bring coolness to their eyes. There is no increase beyond this preparation, and no ambition beyond it.
Then He said: {جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ} (as a reward for what they used to do), thereby cutting off the ambitions of those who wish.
