Al-Aḥzāb: 54

{If you disclose anything} of marrying them with your tongues, {or conceal it} in your hearts, {then indeed, Allah} knows that and will punish you for it.

The verse was revealed in this general form—covering both the disclosed and the concealed—so that it might encompass the marriage of the Prophet’s wives as well as other matters. Furthermore, this phrasing is more intimidating and profound.

{There is no blame upon them concerning their fathers, nor their sons, nor their brothers, nor their brothers' sons, nor their sisters' sons, nor their women, nor those whom their right hands possess. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, a Witness.}
