Tafsir
Verse range: 33:63
"People ask you concerning..."
The polytheists used to ask the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) about the time of the Hour’s arrival, out of haste and mockery. The Jews would ask him to test him, because Allah Almighty had concealed its time in the Torah and in every scripture.
Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was commanded to answer them that it is knowledge which Allah has kept exclusively to Himself; He has not disclosed it to any angel or prophet.
Then, He clarified to His Messenger that it is near in occurrence, as a threat to those who hasten it and a silencing of those who test him.
{Near}: Something near, or because "the Hour" carries the meaning of "the Day," or because it is in a near time.
{Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze. Abiding therein forever, they will not find a protector or a helper.}
