Say, "Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it], but most of the people do not know."

Verse range: 34:36
God Almighty has invalidated their assumption, for provision is a bounty from God which He distributes as He wills, according to what He sees of [divine] interests.
He may expand [provision] for the disobedient and restrict it for the obedient, or He may do the reverse, or He may expand it for both or restrict it for both. Therefore, the matter of reward—which is based on merit—cannot be measured by it [provision].
Qadara (to measure/restrict) provision means to restrict it. God Almighty says: "And whoever is restricted in his provision" (Al-Talaq: 7). It has been recited as yuqaddiru (with tashdid) and yaqdiru (with takhfif).
"And it is not your wealth nor your children that bring you nearer to Us in position, except for those who believe and do righteousness. For them will be the double reward for what they did, and they will be in the high chambers, safe. But those who strive against Our verses, seeking to cause failure—those will be brought into the punishment."
