Sura Saba: (48) Say, "Indeed, my Lord..."

"Qadhf" (casting) and "Ramy" (throwing): These refer to the propelling of an arrow or similar object through force and leverage. They are metaphorically extended from their literal meanings to signify the act of casting or throwing. Examples include the Almighty’s words: "And He cast terror into their hearts" (Al-Ahzab: 26, Al-Hashr: 2), and "Cast him into the chest" (Ta-Ha: 39).

The meaning of "He casts the truth": He delivers it and sends it down to His prophets. Alternatively, it means He strikes falsehood with it, thereby crushing and destroying it.

"Allam al-Ghuyub" (The Knower of the Unseen):

  • It is in the nominative case (marfu') as a predicate for the position of Inna and its noun, or as a reference to the hidden pronoun within the verb yaqdhifu (He casts).
  • It may also be the predicate of an omitted subject.
  • It has been recited in the accusative case (mansub) as an adjective for "my Lord," or as an expression of praise.

"Al-Ghuyub":

  • It has been recited with all three vowel markings (damma, fatha, kasra).
  • Al-Ghuyub (as plural of ghayb) is like al-buyut (houses).
  • Al-Ghuyub (as an intensive form) is like al-sabur (the patient one).
  • It refers to that which is extremely hidden and concealed.

{ Say, "The truth has come, and falsehood neither originates nor restores." }
