Surah Fatir 35:45

ﱁ ﱂ ﱃ ﱄ ﱅ ﱆ ﱇ ﱈ ﱉ ﱊ ﱋ ﱌ ﱍ ﱎ ﱏ ﱐ ﱑ ﱒ ﱓ ﱔ ﱕ ﱖ ﱗ ﱘ ﱙ ﱚ

And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon the earth any creature. But He defers them for a specified term. And when their time comes, then indeed Allah has ever been, of His servants, Seeing.

Fatir: (45) "And if Allah were to impose blame..."

{For what they have earned} For what they have committed of their sins.

{Upon its back} Upon the back of the earth.

{Of a creature} Of any living being that crawls upon it. He means the children of Adam. It is also said: He would not leave the children of Adam or any other creatures because of the ill-omen of their sins.

  • From Ibn Mas‘ud: "The dung beetle is almost punished in its burrow for the sin of the son of Adam." Then he recited this verse.
  • From Anas: "The lizard dies of emaciation in its burrow because of the sin of the son of Adam."
  • It is also said: The rain is withheld, so everything perishes.

{Until a specified term} Until the Day of Resurrection.

{He is, of His servants, All-Seeing} A threat of recompense.


From the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): "Whoever recites Surat al-Mala’ikah (Fatir), the eight gates of Paradise will call out to him: 'Enter through whichever gate you wish.'"
