Surah Yā-Sīn: (10) "And it is all the same for them whether you warn them..."

[The Question] If you ask: He has already mentioned what proves the negation of their faith despite the presence of warning, and then he followed it up with His saying: "Indeed, you only warn..." (v. 11). Yet, this sequence would only be logically sound if the warning itself were negated.

[The Response] I say: It is as you have said. However, since that [previous verse] was a negation of faith despite the existence of warning—meaning that the desired goal of the warning (which is faith) is not being achieved—it was followed by His saying: "Indeed, you only warn..."

The meaning is: The desired goal is only achieved through your warning with those other than these [disbelievers], namely those who follow the Reminder—which is the Qur’an or the admonition—and who fear their Lord in the unseen.

{ Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register. }
